BUA boss pledges $500k, other bonuses to Eagles
The chairman and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has pledged substantial financial rewards to Nigeria’s Super Eagles following their 2-0 victory over Algeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final.
In a statement posted on Saturday via his personal X handle, Rabiu congratulated the team and outlined a series of performance-based incentives for the remaining matches.
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals,” Rabiu said.
He promised $500,000 to the players upon winning the semi-final, with an additional $50,000 for every goal scored in that match.“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge $1,000,000, plus $100,000 for each goal scored in the final,” he added.
Rabiu concluded his message by urging the players to continue making Nigerians proud, saying, “Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian.”
Nigeria secured their place in the semi-final after a convincing 2-0 win against Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, with goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams.
The Super Eagles are now set to face host nation Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday, January 14, at 9pm at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The victory extended Nigeria’s perfect record at the tournament to five wins from five matches, with the team scoring 14 goals and becoming the first side in AFCON history to win their opening five matches of a single edition.
Nigeria have previously won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, 1994 and 2013, and are aiming to add a fourth title to their record. With strong performances so far in the tournament, many Nigerians believe the team has the quality and determination to go all the way.
