NFF technical committee decides fate of national team coaches

The NFF technical committee is meeting today in Abuja to decide the fate of various national team coaches including those of the Super Eagles, the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles.

As first reported by SCORENigeria, the committee is expected to review the performance of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, whose two-year contract is tied to Nigeria’s qualification to the 2026 World Cup.

The Super Eagles failed to win automatic ticket to next year’s Mundial, but now have a second chance to do so through the Playoffs.

In the case of both Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba and Aliyu Zubairu of the Flying Eagles, their respective campaigns have ended and it is now left for the committee to decide what next for these coaches.

The Golden Eaglets failed to qualify for the 2026 U17 AFCON for the second straight year under Manu, while Aliyu Zubairu could only take the Flying Eagles to the Round of 16 of the 2025 U20 World Cup, where they were eliminated 4-0 by eventual finalists Argentina.
