Globacom backs NCC on broadband infrastructure security

Telecommunications company Globacom has pledged full support for the Nigerian Communications Commission’s business roundtable on broadband investment and the protection of critical national infrastructure, which opened on Wednesday at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The high-level gathering, themed ‘Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity’, brought together stakeholders from federal and state governments, regulatory bodies, and the private sector to explore strategies for expanding Nigeria’s broadband footprint and strengthening infrastructure security.
Globacom’s sponsorship and active participation underscore its role as a key partner in shaping Nigeria’s digital future. The company said its logistical and technical support for the two-day event reflects its commitment to fostering a connected, inclusive, and secure digital ecosystem.
“We believe that digital transformation must be inclusive and secure. Our participation in this roundtable continues our mission to support national development through technology. A resilient broadband infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and global competitiveness,” Globacom said in a statement.
Industry analysts view the roundtable as a vital platform for aligning public and private sector interests to meet national broadband targets, improve policy coordination, and bridge existing digital divides, particularly in underserved and rural communities.
Globacom noted that by engaging directly in discussions on right-of-way reforms, investment incentives, and long-term regulatory frameworks, it aims to accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet nationwide. The company also highlighted its contributions to the Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection Plan, designed to strengthen Nigeria’s defences against cyber threats and physical sabotage of telecom assets.
