Dangote Group Addresses Allegations Over Accident Involving Phyna’s Sister

The Dangote Group has issued an official statement following allegations by Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, that one of its trucks was involved in a serious road accident that injured her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, in Auchi, Edo State. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Phyna revealed that the collision left Ruth with one leg amputated, while the second leg remains in critical condition.
Responding to the claims, Dangote Cement PLC confirmed that senior company representatives, alongside their insurance team, visited both the hospital where Ruth is receiving treatment and the accident location. The company said it also worked with local law enforcement to review the incident.
“Following the unfortunate incident in Auchi, Edo State, senior officials from Dangote Cement PLC, together with our insurance partners, met with the victim and her family to assess her needs and provide assistance,” the statement explained.
The company assured that it will cover all necessary medical expenses and offer compensation in line with its welfare policy, emphasizing its commitment to supporting those affected by such incidents.
The case has stirred conversations on social media about truck safety and corporate accountability, with many Nigerians urging stricter regulations for heavy-duty vehicles in populated areas.
