Champion Breweries Plc has returned to profitability in the first half of 2025, posting a profit after tax of N2.29bn, compared to a loss of N386.66m in the same period of 2024.

The development marks a turnaround for the company, reflecting improved operational efficiency and higher revenue performance. The company’s gross profit rose 111 per cent to N7.89bn in the first half of 2025, up from N3.73bn in the same period of the previous year. This was driven by strong sales growth and moderated cost of sales, which increased at a slower pace of 38 per cent to N8.05bn, compared to N5.81bn in 2024.

Operating profit surged by over 552 per cent to N3.86bn, up from N591.94m recorded in the same period last year. The brewery also reported finance income of N139.97m in H1 2025, while finance costs rose significantly to N543.70m from N14.20m. However, the absence of foreign exchange losses, which amounted to N910.74m in H1 2024, contributed significantly to the turnaround.

Total comprehensive income for the period stood at N2.29bn, with earnings per share recovering to 25.57 kobo from a negative 4.94 kobo in the same period of 2024.

Champion Breweries’ total assets grew to N25.95bn as of June 30, 2025, up from N21.35bn at the end of December 2024, while retained earnings rose to N5.63bn from N3.88bn.
