FirstBank sponsors VVF surgeries for 600 women

FirstBank has provided support for 600 women affected by Vesicovaginal Fistula in Jigawa and Plateau States to undergo surgery and provided aftercare kits for them.

A statement from the bank on Sunday indicated that this was done as part of its Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Week.

Apart from the surgery and aftercare kits, the bank introduced a rehabilitation programme designed to help these women regain their livelihoods.

According to the lender, the VVF awareness and surgery programme for the 2024 CR&S Week aligns with the Education, Health and Welfare, and Diversity and Inclusion Pillars of its sustainability strategy.

The bank’s Executive Director of Public Sector, Shehu Aliyu, said “Through FirstBank’s partnership with the state governments, we aim to support the awareness and surgery initiative for this medical condition.”
